Matthew Schulz was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario with his older brother Chris. Matthew enjoyed keeping busy; he was involved in many activities including Volleyball, Karate, Tennis and Swimming. When he wasn’t playing sports, you could always find Matthew behind a computer. Matthew attended East York Collegiate Institute where he recalls great memories of high school life and working as a swimming instructor and beach lifeguard. After graduating high school, Matthew attended the University of Waterloo and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Engineering. After University, Matthew joined Clarity Systems, a software company in Toronto which specialized in corporate performance management. Matthew worked in a variety of roles at Clarity and joined IBM when Clarity was acquired. Matthew’s next role was at a Toronto software start-up called Rypple as Director of Technical Operations. Rypple’s cloud solution helped people work better together through social goals, employee recognition, and continuous feedback. Matthew joined Salesforce, the leader in enterprise cloud solutions, when Rypple was acquired by Salesforce. After meeting the Avanti team and learning more about Avanti’s product direction, Matthew was thrilled to join the Avanti team as Vice President, Operations in July, 2012. When Matthew isn’t working or spending time with family and friends, he is on the road or in the air heading for his next adventure. Matthew has travelled throughout North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Most recently, Matthew drove through the Canadian Rockies on a Harley and saw the Northern Lights in Alaska with his fiancée Laura. He’s also been skydiving, white water rafting, glacier crevasse climbing, and dangled over Toronto’s skyline in the CN-Tower’s Edge-Walk. Matthew and Laura are currently planning a fall wedding at a cottage resort in Muskoka, Ontario and will be honeymooning in Italy and Greece. Having been at Avanti for almost a year, Matthew really enjoys working with such a great team of talented professionals and helping Avanti’s clients each day.
